Penwell Gabel Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas KS

Our History

Our cemetery was founded in 1926 by German immigrant Max Schuchart as one of the nation’s first memorial parks.

Ren & Theresa Newcomer purchased the cemetery in 1988, bringing it into the Penwell-Gabel family.

Notable additions to the cemetery include the construction of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in 1991 and the dedication of the Serve & Protect garden in 2005.

The cemetery’s most popular feature has always been the pond near 6th and Gage where children and families gather to feed the ducks and geese.
